I am a married 32 year old man, my wife and I are expecting our first born in a couple months. I love my wife immensely.
But I think I love Josh Hamilton more.
Everyone has heard of his story. I personally have been following since he first got into trouble through Google News searches. Trying to keep up with the latest debauchery that he continuously found himself in. I don’t know if it was because I cared, or simply my TMZ-loving side coming out. But, enough about that, everyone’s heard it ad-nauseum.
Let’s talk about him as a player, what should really count since the season has finally started.
First of all, he’s a 6’4″, 240 pound CENTERFIELDER who can run like a deer. Check out his over the shoulder catch robbing Brad “Thank God You Don’t Play For Texas Anymore” Wilkerson.
Don’t forget in high school the kid was being looked at as a Pitcher by many ML teams, he could consistently bring mid-90’s heat, from the leftside. SO, with this said, he has a rocket for an arm. I can’t wait til some schmo’ tries to score from second on a crisp single hit back up the box.
I’ve mentioned that he can run like a deer. He legged out an infield hit in Game 2 vs. Seattle and I look for him to steal some bags, perhaps in the 10-15 range.
And, finally, at the plate….He looks so confident and smooth at the dish. He has a great timing mechanism within his swing (ala Rafael Palmeiro) that just looks beautiful. He spits on pitches that he doesn’t want to hit, even when he checks his swing it’s impressive. Plain and simple, Josh Hamilton looks like he was born to hit in the bigs.
Thank God it’s for my favorite team.
P.S. JD, this coup of Josh Hamilton will make up for past transgressions, keep it up kid.
